Origins: Central Asian Code

Education in Central Asia (Uzbekistan), shaped the artist's unique perspective. In this culture, ornament was never simply decorative—it served as architecture, structured space, and replaced narrative with rhythm and color. As researchers note, color and ornament became the main points of convergence between Eastern traditions and contemporary art.

Philosophy: From Image to Construction

Where traditional portraiture seeks resemblance, and classical expressionism seeks a simple outpouring of emotion, Ornamental Expressionism constructs emotion through structure.

Painting as a Mosaic: Instead of academically sculpting faces, Spiros lays them out with a palette knife, layer by layer. Each brushstroke is a brick in the "architecture of feelings."

Disappearance and Reappearance: The image of the face and head does not dominate his works; it is "embedded" in a system of rhythms and color spots. The image sometimes appears, sometimes dissolves, creating the effect of a living presence.

Dmitry's work is based on his teacher's admonition: "A painting should be perceived as a celebration. A feeling of joy and delight should captivate the viewer." This "celebration" is realized through the dynamics of color and texture. For Spiros, ornamentation is not a diagram, but the skeleton of a composition, its pulse and energy.
